The dock at Ropeid is a beautiful, large area close to Sandsfjorden, near the entrance to Suldal in the west. Previously, the ferry between Ropeid and the municipality center, Sand, operated here, but today the area is a great stop on the trip, offering magnificent views, fishing opportunities, and modern architecture. Ropeid has several beautiful installations and is part of the National Tourist Route Ryfylke.

The waiting room at Ropeid was completed in 2016 and has a unique design where the mountains and fjord landscape become part of the room through large glass windows. The building was constructed under the auspices of the National Tourist Route Ryfylke and was designed by Jensen & Skodvin.

In 2021, the dock at Ropeid was further developed with large asphalt surfaces and coarse masses towards the fjord, featuring various seating arrangements, benches, lanterns, and lamps. The area was designed by KAP Architects and aims to blur the line between culture and nature. The idea is to combine rest and relaxation with landscape restoration.

Accessible: The area around the waiting room and Ropeid dock is easily accessible with paved areas right up to the fjord. You can also enter the waiting room through a wide door, with a small step of less than 1 cm. The interior of the waiting room is spacious.
