Hiking Demanding

Grytenut, the highest peak as far as the coast, offers a wide view of the islands. Up here you will also find binoculars that allow you to explore the wonderful view more closely.

Option 1: Østebøneset-Grytenuten

The trip from Østebøneset up to Grytenuten (from the west side) is a longer option, but the trip is often considered to be nicer and the climb is not as steep from the start. You start the trip by parking by the main road in an area marked by Østebøneset, along the road between Hebnes and Vormestrand. The tour takes you to Melenuten, and a detour to Fossenibba is also a great experience.

From here you can go down the same road or take the path down towards Kjølvikstølen.

Time: 6-7 hours,

Distance: 14 km

Rating: Demanding (red)

Highest point: 862 m

Access: By car to Ropeidhalvøya, between Hebnes and Vormestrand.

Option 2: Kjølvikstølen-Grytenuten

The Kjølvikstøken-Grytenuten is shorter than the route from Østebøneset, but the climb from the start is more demanding and some parts require you to be careful. The tour starts at Kjølvikstølen, where you can park at the community centre. A path to the right of the car park leads you up to the route.

From the top, you can take the same route down, or continue down towards Østebøneset.

Time: 5 hours

Distance: 8 km

Rating: Demanding (red)

Highest point: 862 m

Access: By car to the Ropeid Peninsula. Stop between Vatlandsvåg and Hebnes.
