Lågabrua bridge

This venerable old wooden bridge across Suldalslågen is worth a stop. During the salmon fishing season, it’s the perfect place from which to watch the many hopeful anglers up and down the river.

Lågabrua, the oldest bridge over the Suldalslågen river, was probably built in the late 1700s. It crosses the river between Nærheim and Ritland, and becomes visible soon after you pass Ritland on your way east along the National Tourist Route Ryfylke.

The man behind the bridge was Ole Olsen Songesand, known as “Ola the Gimp”, who was quite the local legend.
