Kvanndalen Tourist Cabin is located in a beautiful mountain valley, Kvanndalen.

The cabin is Stavanger Tourist Association's second oldest cabin, built in 1898. The cabin is small and simple but still charming. Kvanndalen was previously considered the best mountain pasture valley in Suldal, and the mountain pastures were located on both sides of the watercourse.

The valley is very lush, with the Kvanndalselva river winding in calm bends and narrow rapids throughout the valley. The river entices for both swimming and fishing. STF (Stavanger Tourist Association) members can fish for free with a rod in the river. It takes only 1-2 hours to walk to the cabin from Kvanndalsdammen. If you want to explore the entire Kvanndalen, it is recommended to start from Haukeliseter. The trip takes about nine hours through magnificent nature. The cabin is not suitable for winter use.

The cabin does not have a food supply, so you must bring the food you need. Kvanndalen is self-service and accessible all year round. If you visit outside the season, contact the tourist center to check if the bridges are ready. A year-round bridge has been established to Holmavatn/Sandvatn and Bleskestadmoen.

The cabin has a total of 14 sleeping places, with 4 beds and the rest mattresses on the loft/floor. Payment is made by filling out a payment authorization form available at the cabin or by downloading the DNT app before departure.

If you use the cabin as a base, it is nice to take a day trip across the bridge at Tronggjo and hike the scenic trail up to enjoy a great view down to Kvanndalsvatnet. For more adventurous hikers, Trollskeinutane offers heights of over 1,600 meters. Kvanndalen is part of the marked Sjumilsstøvelen trail—read more about it here: https://www.stf.no/sjumilstvelen/
