Guggedalsloftet at Kolbeinstveit is a historical and architectural gem. Stabburet is the oldest wooden building in Rogaland, with the upper half from the 13th century and the lower part from the 15th century. The building was probably used to store food, but they also had guests on the farm staying here for periods.

The Guggedalsloftet is originally from Guggedalsgarden in Bråtveit, but was moved to Kolbeinstveit by the Ryfylkemuseet. The stable also stood for a period in Stavanger as part of a planned regional museum, but was moved back as the wood could not withstand climate change. At Kolbeinstveit, the storehouse stands as a fine part of a larger museum garden where the main houses date from the 1850s.

In the summer, Kolbeinstveit comes to life with animals and hosts in traditional dress. The hosts are happy to take you on a guided tour for an introduction to the building's rich history. Read more at ryfylkemuseet.no.
