Krossvatnhytta is surrounded by fish-rich lakes, so don't forget to bring your fishing rod! You can also reach mighty mountaintops on day trips from the cabin. The cabin is located in the heart of the Dyraheio Landscape Protection Area, in the traditional hunting area for Suldaølen.

Krossvatnhytta is a self-service cabin with a food supply and is accessible all year round. The cabin is unlocked. Please note that there may be limited food supplies and that bridges may be removed. It is advisable to contact the Stavanger Tourist Association if you plan a trip outside the season.

The cabin has 16 permanent beds, but there are 12 additional loose mattresses in the loft. In the autumn of 2015, a new safety cabin was built. Payment is made by filling out a payment authorization form available at the cabin or by downloading the DNT app before departure.

There are excellent hiking opportunities to animal graves at Nøvletjørn and Leirdalen. You can also hike to Nøvlenuten (1,235 meters above sea level) and Grønafjell (1,414 meters above sea level).

You can reach Krossvatnet by a day's hike from Jonstølen, Stranddalen, or from Vassdalstjørn. There is also a marked route (not painted red) from Krossvasskilane via Breiavahytta to Skreivassdammen in the northern end of Blåsjø. From there, there is a straightforward construction road to Øvre Moen. (Avoid driving in if there is a risk of snow when you return).
