“Brødrene af Sand”
The fjord village Sand was an important trading port for boat building at the end of the 19th century. A historical jetty from this time can be rented by groups and teams who want an unusual experience.
Adventure Park in Sand city center
Sand Center has two different skate areas developed by Rampline. Here, both young and old can explore balancing skills and other abilities.
Beaches of Suldal
If you are brave enought to beat the chilly Norwegian air, you can find many great swimming places in Suldal.
Blåsjø - Norway's largest dam complex
Blåsjø stretches over an area of 83 square kilometers and consists of a total of 11 dams. The area constitutes Norway's largest reservoir for hydroelectric power, and it serves as an excellent starting point for hikers and cyclists!
Flesåna in Bratlandsdalen
The scenic road through the valley of Bratlandsdalen has fascinated many travellers. In the past, the valley was one of the highlights of the Sand–Suldal–Røldal–Odda tourist route.
Guggedalsloftet, Ryfylke Museum, Kolbeinstveit
A key attraction at the Kolbeinstveit farm complex is Guggedalsloftet, the oldest non-ecclesiastic wooden building in Rogaland county.

Jelsa - Ryfylke's best-preserved beach town
Jelsa is Ryfylke's best-preserved beach town and has been voted the most idyllic place in Rogaland. Here, you can wander among historic neighborhoods and white wooden houses.
Jonstøl
Jonstøl lodge in Bråtveitheiane has an impressive design, which received the local award for good architecture in 2015.
Kvednahola at Vasshus
The old facilities at Kvednahola are good examples of the pre-industrial use of water power.
Litunet cluster farmstead
High up on the slope, with panoramic views of Hylsfjorden in Suldal, lies Li Farm, nearly 300 meters steep above the fjord. Today, it is part of Ryfylke Museum.
Lågabrua
This venerable old wooden bridge across Suldalslågen is worth a stop. During the salmon fishing season, it’s the perfect place from which to watch the many hopeful anglers up and down the river.
Monument to Georg Fjellberg
Great views and local history meet at the Georg Fjellberg monument along the road between Jøsenfjorden and Gullingen.
Ostasteidn
On the north side of the Sandsfjord Bridge there is a new spectacular rest area, inspired by Lars Hertervig’s dramatic paintings of Ryfylke.
Power architecture in Nesflaten
Experience village life and exciting architecture in Nesflaten. The area called "Kilen" has one of the finest and best-preserved collections of functionalist architecture in Norway.
Røynevarden crofter's cottage
Located just above Suldalsvatnet with a beautiful view of Bråtveit and Suldalsheiane, Røynevarden is a historic smallholding belonging to Ryfylke Museum.

Select cultural landscape Suldal
In 2018, the hamlets of Hamrabø, Klungtveit, and Mokleiv were designated as selected cultural landscapes due to their unique and highly valuable biodiversity and cultural heritage.
Sheriff's residence Fossheim
Fossheim is a stately building located just above Sandsfossen waterfall in Sand. The building was constructed in 1936-37 by the local sheriff Rasmus Rasmussen.
Strandstaden Sand
The coastal town of Sand is the municipal center of Suldal. Here, you can stroll among white wooden houses close to the fjord while visiting shops, museums, and a cultural center.
Suldalslågen
Suldalslågen is one of the best salmon rivers in Norway.
Suldalsporten
If you drive Rv13 along Suldalsvatnet, there is a great photo-op at the western end of the lake. It’s a motif that has been portrayed on many postcards through the years.
Suldalsvatnet lake
Suldalsvatnet is 30 km long, stretching from Roalkvam to Suldalsosen. The lake has always been a key thoroughfare in inner Suldal.
The Hylsfjord
The Hylsfjord, a fjord arm of the Sandsfjord, is one of the innermost fjords of the Boknafjord system.
The Lovrafjord
The pristine Lovrafjord has steep mountainsides and virtually no settlements.
The Waiting Room and the light pier at Ropeid
Venterommet (Waiting Room) at Ropeid was completed in 2016 and was designed by Jensen & Skodvin. The building has a unique design where the mountains and fjord landscape become part of the room through large glass windows.
Torstein of Heimnes
Visit the monument at Hebnes in memory of Torstein of Heimnes, King Håken Håkonsson's foremost advisor in war and peace.
