Ever since the first English tourists came to Norway in the late 1800s, the Ryfylkeheiane highlands have attracted eager hikers and skiers.
The Stavanger chapter of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) has an excellent network of marked trails and lodges in Ryfylkeheiane. Starting from Suldal, you
can hike and ski eastwards all the way to Haukeli or head south to Sirdal. The most popular lodge in the moors, Stranddalen, is staffed during summer. If you
prefer a shorter hike, you can head out from Nesflaten to the lodges at Jonstøl, Kvanndalen or Bleskestadmoen from Nesflaten. Other lodges include Krossvatn.
In the winter, the cross-country ski trails between the lodges are marked with saplings. For map and more information look please visit the websites below or contact the tourist information.
